The Poco M5 has officially launched in India as the latest budget phone from Poco India. The Poco M5 follows the Poco M4 and is powered by the latest MediaTek Helio G99 chipset which we have also seen on the Infinix Note 12 Pro. Since the Poco M5 is a phone priced under Rs 15,000 in India, it has all the basic set of features that you’d expect on phones in this price range. It’s got a premium-looking design paired with a high refresh rate display, triple rear camera setup and a large capacity battery to boot. Here’s how the Poco M5 stands against the likes of the Infinix Note 12 Pro and Vivo T1x in this on-paper pricing and specifications comparison.
Poco M5 vs Infinix Note 12 Pro vs Vivo T1x: Pricing
The Poco M5 starts at Rs 12,499 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option and Rs 14,499 for the 6GB+128GB option. Meanwhile, the Infinix Note 12 Pro is priced at Rs 18,999 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage while the Vivo T1x starts at Rs 11,999 for the 4GB+64GB variant, Rs 12,999 for the 4GB+128GB model and Rs 14,999 for the 6GB+128GB option.
Poco M5 vs Infinix Note 12 Pro vs Vivo T1x: Design and Display
Out of the three phones, the Poco M5 has the most unique design with a leather-like textured finish on the back. Meanwhile, the Infinix Note 12 Pro and the Vivo T1x, both have a glossy-gradient finish on the back. The Poco M5, Infinix Note 12 Pro and the Vivo T1x all have a plastic and glass build but only the Poco M5 has Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the display.
The Poco M5 measures 8.9mm in thickness and weighs 201 grams which is a bit on the higher side since the Note 12 Pro and T1x measure 7.8mm and 8mm in thickness and weigh 192 grams and 182 grams respectively.
The Infinix Note 12 Pro has a larger 6.7-inch display over the 6.58-inch displays on the Poco M5 and the Vivo T1x. However, the Note 12 Pro features an AMOLED display which is superior to the LCD panels on the other two phones. Additionally, all three phones have a waterdrop notch for the selfie cameras and offer Full HD+ resolution with 90Hz refresh rate support. Another difference between the three phones is that the Note 12 Pro has a slightly narrow chin than the Poco M5 and the T1x.
Poco M5 vs Infinix Note 12 Pro vs Vivo T1x: Under the hood
The Poco M5 and the Infinix Note 12 Pro are powered by the latest MediaTek Helio G99 chip which has an octa-core CPU and Mali-G57 GPU, while the Vivo T1x is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chip. The Helio G99 chip has two performance cores clocked at 2.2GHz while six power-efficient cores run at 2.0GHz. Meanwhile, the Snapdragon 680 has four performance cores running at 2.4GHz and four power-efficient cores clocked at 1.9GHz.
The Infinix Note 12 Pro is offered in a sole 8GB+256GB storage option while the Poco M5 and the Vivo T1x are available in multiple storage variants of upto 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. All three phones also have a dedicated micro SD card slot for storage expansion and run on Android 12 out-of-the-box.
The Note 12 Pro features a stereo speaker setup while the Poco M5 and the Vivo T1x have a single speaker. Being affordable phones, neither of the three has an in-screen fingerprint sensor instead what we get is a side-mounted fingerprint reader on the power button.

The Poco M5, Infinix Note 12 Pro and the Vivo T1x have the same 5,000mAh battery capacity. However, the Note 12 Pro supports 33W fast charging while the Poco M5 and the T1x support 18W charging speeds.
Poco M5 vs Infinix Note 12 Pro vs Vivo T1x: Cameras
The Poco M5 has triple cameras on the back consisting of a 50MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The Vivo T1x also has the same 50MP primary camera along with a 2MP depth sensor while the Note 12 Pro features a 108MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. As for the selfie camera, the Poco M5 has a 5MP front camera while the Vivo T1x has an 8MP selfie camera and the Note 12 Pro has a 16MP front-facing camera. The Note 12 Pro also has quad-LED flash and all three phones can record in 1080p at 30FPS.
Poco M5 vs Infinix Note 12 Pro vs Vivo T1x: Early Thoughts
The Poco M5 offers a great set of balanced features and is very light on the pocket especially if you consider its introductory pricing. However, the Infinix Note 12 Pro leaves no stones unturned to offer a similar if not better feature set but loses on the pricing front which is closer to the ₹20,000 mark. That said, we will reserve our opinions on the Poco M5 for our full review for which we are currently testing the day-to-day performance and the camera performance.
